Executive Director


Marie joined AFC Mentoring in July 2007. She most recently served as the Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati – Eastern Area. She also served as a Public Policy Associate for the United Way of Greater Cincinnati – Northern KY, Community Relations Manager for the United Way in Dayton, OH, and PR/Program Manager for the Memphis City Beautiful Commission. Marie has personal experiences in foster care and has served as a foster parent. She has a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Arkansas State University and is working on a Master's in Communication.

Melissa Chu

Program Coordinator


Melissa has a B.A. from Wellesley College and has been a one-to-one mentor since 2005 and started working at AFC Mentoring in August of 2006. Melissa coordinates all AFC/Mentors/ programming. She screens and trains potential mentors, does intake work with potential mentees, makes mentoring matches, and provides ongoing support to mentors, mentees, and involved adults. She also works on program improvement and evaluation.

Ann Green

Ann Green

VISTA Manager


Ann first joined AFC Mentoring as a volunteer Grant Writer, and is very happy to be a member of the staff. Ann previously worked as a Communications Consultant for Promise The Children, and prior to that was the Administrator of the Hearing Research Center at Boston University for many years. Ann has an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master's degree from Boston University.

Kim Hall

Program Coordinator


Kim joined AFC in July 2008. Prior to that she trained and worked with teens on bridging the gap between youth and the police for 3.5 years at the City of Boston's Youth and Police in Partnership. She is currently attending Bunker Hill Community College for a certificate in Early Childhood Development; her ultimate goal is to become a Pediatric Nurse.

Anya Woronzoff-Dashkoff

Program Coordinator (MA Promise Fellow)


Anya joined AFC Mentoring in July 2008. She recently graduated from Harvard University with an Ed.M in Adolescent Risk and Prevention. While at Harvard, Anya worked at the Counseling and Intervention Center, a short-term psychological program for students in the Boston Public Schools. She gruaduated from Smith College with a B.A. in English and Russian language and literature. Prior to graduate school Anya worked for three years at a small school in Connecticut devoted to teens' character development and family relationships.

David Armstrong

Administratrive Assistant


David joined AFC in August 2008. He has a BA Business Management and a Computerized Accounting Certificate. David has worked for a number of organizations in the Boston area including Action for Boston Community Development as a Central Service Officer, Neighborhood Liaison, and Director of the Columbia Point Neighborhood Service Center,

Katie McManus

Program Coordinator


Katie McManus joined AFC mentoring at the beginning of September as a Program Coordinator. Katie recently graduated with her MSW degree from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, where she focused on clinical work with Children, Youth and Families. While at Boston College, Katie interned for a Family Preservation Program where she provided family support, counseling and stabilization to families involved with the Department of Children and Families. Katie also interned for the Department of Children and Families while working toward her Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work at Bridgewater State College. Prior to attending graduate school Katie worked as a case manager for a non-profit organization providing counseling and financial assistance to employees in the footwear industry.

Brittany Temple

Recruitment Coordinator (Americorps Vista)


Brittany Temple, Recruitment Coordinator (AmeriCorps* VISTA), joined AFC in August 2008. She is a recent graduate of Minnesota State University with a B.S. in Psychology. Her future plans include getting a Master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
