Event Details
AFC's first annual gala fundraiser, MATCH: A runway Revolution, was a success! The action-packed evening featured a lively fashion show, music, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a silent auction and raffle where people went home with exotic vacations, sporting accessories, and a variety of clothing, food and activity gift cards.
At the event, AFC also recognized a few of its biggest supporters. Joe Leavey, CEO of Communities for People, was honored as the “Outstanding Advocate” of the year while Julie Guyes of the Chelsea/Harbor DCF office was honored as the “Social Worker of the Year”
Additionally, AFC announced that United Way had awarded AFC a $150,000 grant over three years. United Way CEO Mike Durkin was present and addressed the audience, lauding AFC for the work it has done over the years.
Some of the best local caterers like Aura Retaurant and Harvard Gardens, served the food, while Sam Adams donated a wide array of beer for the night.
The fashion show showed off great designs from boutique designers like Jennifer Reale Design, Flock, Lily and Migs, Portobello Road, and Donna + Erica, as well as accessories from DRE Design.
From the auction, guests went home with a wide array of items, ranging from an all-inclusive South African Safari, to weekend getaways in Vermont and on Cape Cod, to 12 cases of Sam Adams beer, to sky diving lessons, to helicopter lessons, to a basketball autographed by the entire Boston Celtics team.
