"We have been able to talk through a lot of issues she has been faced with and I have been able to show her that consistency is possible. Due to her family situation, she hasn't seen a lot of people be reliable and trustworthy I see that mentoring has taught her that these things are possible." – AFCMentor
Our Boston-based one-to-one and group mentoring programs bring together positive adult mentors and youth in care, such as foster or kinship care, residential care, or adoption. Our mentoring programs are strongly supported by mentors with personal experiences in out-of-home care, but our program is open to all positive adult role models with a variety of backgrounds.
Mentors
A mentor is a positive adult role model at least 18 years of age who is responsible, consistent, and a good listener. A mentor is a role model and a friend. Mentoring is an exciting and fun experience, which involves a small hourly commitment per month for at least one year &mdash a small amount of time compared to the lifetime of memories you will be making!!
